ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (11-7, 5-4 Liberty League) men's basketball team lost a close game, 77-75 to Hobart College (15-5, 9-2 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Clark Gym Tuesday evening. Hobart's Richie Bonney converted an old fashioned 3-point play with 19 seconds to play in regulation to give the Statesmen the win.

The Tigers took a six-point lead with 3:07 to play when Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers) drained a three pointer off an assist from Brendan Reinert (Wheatfield, NY/Starpoint) giving RIT a 70-64 lead. Hobart responded with an 8-2 run, tying the score at 72-72 on a 3-pointer by Connor Rahbaum with 1:52 to play off an assist from Andrew Hoy.

On RIT's next possession, Miguel Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) was fouled on his way to the rim, making 1-of-2 free throws giving RIT a 73-72 lead. Rehbaum laid a shot in for the Statesmen with 58 seconds to play, giving Hobart a 74-73 lead.

Lopez took the ball to the rim once again on RIT's next possession, earning a pair of free throws after being fouled with 40 seconds to play. He made both, giving the Tigers a 75-74 lead.

With time running out, Joe Gibbons fed Bonney in the post. He spun around his defender and laid the ball in as he was being fouled, giving the Statesmen a 76-75 lead. He made the free throw making it 77-75.

After a timeout, RIT got the ball to JP Reagan (Cortland, NY/Cortland), but his 3-pointer caromed off the rim and Hobart cleared the board securing the two-point win.

Reagan led RIT with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Kamron Davis (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Balenton finished with 14 points and four assists.
