ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team embarks on its first road trip of the season, going east to play a pair of games against the University of Vermont of Hockey East this weekend. The Tigers and Catamounts meet on Saturday at 4 p.m. and close out the weekend series at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Tigers (2-1-1) will look to get back in the win column after going 0-1-1 last weekend, falling to New Hampshire, 1-0 on Friday, and tying No. 10 Northeastern, 2-2 on Saturday. RIT out-shot New Hampshire, 32-18 on Friday, but could not get the big goal. Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) made 17 saves in the loss. On Saturday, goaltender Brooke Stoddart (Elmvale, Ontario/Elmvale) made a career-high 38 saves, while Christa Vuglar (Crystal Lake, IL/Chicago Mission) and Darcy Henderson (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) scored their first collegiate goals, as RIT rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Henderson's goal came with 33 seconds left in regulation with the goalie pulled to force overtime to earn College Hockey America Rookie of the Week honors.

The loss on Friday snapped RIT's nine-game winning streak, dating back to Feb. 14, 2014. Vuglar leads the team in scoring with three points on a goal and two assists. The Tigers have allowed just four goals in four games. In goal, Binnington is 2-1-0 with a 0.67 goals against average and .971 save percentage.

Last Saturday, RIT drew a program record 3,011 fans to the Gene Polisseni Center as part of the university's One SpiRIT Global Hockey Festival. After the first period, fans performed two card stunts in the club and surrounding sections of the arena, spelling out "One SpiRIT" and "Go Tigers".

The Catamounts enter the weekend with the same 2-1-1 record as RIT. Last weekend, Vermont earned a win and tie against Rensselaer, securing a 4-2 road victory last Friday, while skating to a 2-2 draw at home the next day. On Oct. 4, Vermont defeated No. 10 North Dakota on the road to start the season, 3-1. Bridget Baker and Dayna Colang lead the Catamounts in scoring with four points apiece. Baker, Brittany Zuback, and Amanda Pelkey have two goals each to lead the team. In goal, Madison Litchfield has played in all four games and has a 2.21 goals against average and .925 save percentage.

The Tigers are 7-1-3 all-time against Vermont. Last season, the two teams split a pair of contests at Ritter Arena during Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend, as RIT won by a score of 6-0 the first night and Vermont rebounded to win 5-2 the next day.

Both games will be aired live in high definition online and have live stats.
