ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's volleyball team (13-10) fell in three sets to University of Rochester (10-13) in an non-conference match at the Palestra on Friday night. Rochester won the three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-10.

Sophomore outside hitter
Sarah Szybist (Chicago, IL/Ramstein) led the team offensively with 10 kills to go along with three digs.
Amy Van Hienen (Castor, Alberta/Gus Wetter) added seven kills and one service ace while
Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) had six digs. Junior
Arielle Pariente (Twinsburg, OH/Twinsburg) dished out a team high nine assists while
Laiz Novaes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Centro Educational) added eight.
Xiaoyi Li led Rochester with 23 assists, five digs, one block assist, and one kill – on the match-clinching point. Emma Gira led Rochester with seven kills and hit .636. She had four of Rochester's 14 service aces. Meghan Connor had five aces, Ashley Hunter had three (and six digs) and Jennie Ford added two aces to go along with five kills. Allie Fredrickson had six kills, second to Gira's seven.

The Yellowjackets hit .373 as a team for the night with 27 kills, five attack errors, and 59 attacks. RIT hit .154 for the night. The Tigers hit .333 in the second game. Rochester hit .500 in the second game and .381 (10-2-21) in the third.

"I want to commend Rochester for playing a solid match," said RIT head coach
Jim Lodes. "They were relentless. We need to raise our intensity, effort, and focus when competing, especially against a good opponent. I expect us to work hard in practice this week to be ready for these next few weeks."

The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 15 as they host Nazareth College at Clark Gym at 6 p.m.Â
