Ashlynn Palmitesso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley)# scored a career-high 28 points as the RIT (6-6, 2-1 Liberty League) women's basketball defeated Bard College (1-10, 0-2 Liberty League) 83-59 in Liberty League action on Friday evening. Palmitesso scored 16 of her 28 points in the first half to lead the Tigers to the conference win.
Palmitesso finished with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three point range. She also grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists. Senior #
Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# added 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Freshman #
Julia Bender (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) tallied 12 points and (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley)Sydney Frank (Haverford, PA/Friends' Central)# added a career-best 10 points.
RIT shot 50 percent from the floor on 33-of-66 shooting. The Tigers were 6-of-20 from behind the arc and were 11-of-14 from the foul line. RIT held a 43-34 rebounding edge, scoring 42 points in the paint.
The Tigers never trailed, leading by as many as 16 points in the first half, taking a 43-28 lead into the break.
RIT led by as many as 31 points in the second half, scoring 20 points off of 20 Bard turnovers.
Tytravia Riley and Bianka Bell led the Raptors with 15 points apiece. Bard shot 34.5 percent from the floor on 19-of-55 shooting.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, January 18 when the Tigers face Vassar College at 2 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
