No. 23 RIT women's soccer suffers first loss of season at Mayor's Cup Tournament versus SUNY Oneonta

ONEONTA, NY -- The No. 23 RIT (2-1-0) women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season with a 1-0 loss to SUNY Oneonta (2-1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Mayor's Cup Tournament at Elmore Field on the campus of Hartwick College.

The Red Dragons held an 8-3 shot advantage. The Tigers took three corner kicks to five for Oneonta. Junior Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) took the loss, making four saves. Kelley Murphy picked up the win in net for the Red Dragons.

In a tight, defensive game, Oneonta tallied the lone goal of the game in the 48th minute. Kayla Ceschini scored the unassisted goal.

The goal was the first conceded by the Tigers this season. RIT entered today's game nationally-ranked for the first time in the program's 32-year history.

RIT returns to action on Sunday at the Mayor's Cup Tournament. The Tigers will face Hartwick College at 2:30 p.m. at Red Dragon Field on the campus of SUNY Oneonta.
