ROCHESTER, NY – For the second straight day, the RIT women's soccer team (2-0-0) played nearly 107 minutes of soccer. Once again, the Tigers came out on top. Saturday,
Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport) scored on a header in the 107th minute off a corner kick from
Elizabeth May (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) to give RIT a 1-0 win over Otterbein College (1-1-0) on day two of the 2013 Rachel Miller Memorial Tournament. The Tigers beat Allegheny College 1-0 in the 107th minute on Friday on a goal by

With darkness descending on Tiger Stadium, May swung a nice high service into the Cardinals penalty area that Vakiener ran onto and headed into the top left corner of the net for her first of the season.
Shots were 12-10 in favor of Otterbein, as each team took seven corner kicks. RIT goalkeeper
Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) picked up her second shut out win of the season in net, making five saves. Dana Strimbu took the loss for Otterbein, allowing one goal and making one save.
RIT had two good scoring chances in the first half. The first came in the 18th minute when
Emily Shoemaker (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) chipped a free kick from 20 yards out that was just out of reach for
Alexa Martinez (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel). The second came in the 36th minute when
Ehlana Gray (Sewickley, PA/Avonworth) fired a shot from long range that just missed the far post.
RIT put good pressure on Otterbein's defense early in the second half.
Kiana Richards (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) and
Maxine Culhane (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) generated two good chances linking up. Both times Culhane couldn't get turned and a shot off.
Otterbein started generating more and more chances as the second half wore on. In the 81st minute, Otterbein's Alex Ancona fired a free kick over the RIT wall from 19 yards out that Murray was able to gobble up on the short hop and keep the game scoreless.
In the first overtime, Megan McCabe was able to get a good hard shot off with
Jamie Martinez (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) draped all over her. Murray was in perfect position and made the save, setting up Vakiener's game-winner in the second overtime.
