ROCHESTER, NY - Senior forward #
Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)# of the RIT women's hockey team was named to the 2013 College Hockey America second team, as the league doled out its season awards at the end of the season banquet, held at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center in Erie, Pa. Hiller was the lone Tiger to be honored in their first season in the league.
Hiller has enjoyed a tremendous senior season for the Tigers, leading the squad with 26 points (14 goals and 12 assists) in 36 games, while playing at a plus-5, appearing all 36 games. Hiller also led the team with seven power-play goals and three game-tying tallies in 2012-13 to go along with 53 penalty minutes. Hiller led the team in league play by recording 16 points on nine goals and seven assists in 20 CHA contests. She scored all seven of her power-play goals and three game-tying tallies in league play. Hiller has saved her best for the homestretch, with 15 points on eight goals and seven assists over her last 14 games. On Jan. 18, Hiller recorded the third hat-trick of her collegiate career in a win over Sacred Heart.
A native of Brampton, Ontario, Hiller has enjoyed a brilliant four-year career for the Tigers. She has never missed a game in her RIT career and along with teammate #
Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)#, hold the program record with 123 games played. On Feb. 9, Hiller became the 11th player in the history of the RIT women's hockey program to reach 100 career points against Syracuse. Hiller has 104 career points on 40 goals and 64 assists. In addition, she has 16 career power-play goals, tied for seventh most in program history.
The third-seeded Tigers (16-15-2) play second-seed Syracuse (19-14-1) in the second CHA Semifinal from the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday at 4:30 p.m. If the Tigers advance, they will face either top-seed Mercyhurst (26-6-1) or fourth-seeded Robert Morris (15-14-3) on Saturday in the CHA Championship, which gets underway at 3 p.m.
