ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (12-3-3) women's soccer team travels to Geneva, N.Y. to play William Smith College (16-1-0) in the first ever Liberty League Women's Soccer Tournament Championship on Saturday, at 1 p.m. The winner earns the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
RIT advanced to Saturday's title with a 1-0 win at No. 2 seed Skidmore College on Wednesday. #
Ehlana Gray (Sewickley, PA/Avonworth)# scored the game's lone goal in the 40th minute and RIT's defense held Skidmore scoreless, for its school-record 11th shut out. #
Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls)# made 10 saves in net for RIT.
William Smith advanced to Saturday's game with a 3-0 win over Vassar in the semifinal on Wednesday. Madeline Buckley, Shay Callahan and Krista Longo each scored for the Herons, and Chelsea Dunay picked up the win in net, making three saves.
RIT, ranked 24th in this week's NSCAA Division III poll, enters Saturday's championship game as the third seed, while William Smith, ranked third in this week's poll, is the top seed. These two teams met last Saturday with the Herons pulling out the 2-0 win. Krista Longo and Evie Manning scored the Herons goals in the second half.
RIT comes into Saturday's game averaging 1.39 goals per game, having outscored their opponents 25-12.
Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) leads the Tigers in scoring with 23 points and 11 goals respectively. Freshman forward #

William Smith is one of the best defensive teams in Division III, allowing 0.37 goals per game. The Herons have not allowed a goal since Sept. 28 versus St. Lawrence, and have allowed just six goals this season. Chelsea Dunay has played the majority of the minutes in net for William Smith, posting a 16-1-0 record, an .889 save percentage, 12 shut outs and a 0.36 goals against average.

William Smith enters Saturday averaging 2.41 goals per game, having outscored their opponents 41-6 this season. The Herons have scored two or more goals in 11-of-17 games. Buckley leads William Smith in points and goals with 21 points and eight goals. Longo is second on the team with six goals, and Kara Shue leads the Herons with nine assists.
William Smith leads the all time series between the two schools, 30-1-2. Last season, RIT and the Herons played to a 1-1 draw in the conference semifinals, but William Smith advanced on penalty kicks.
