ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT volleyball team wrapped up the 2013 season with a three-set loss to New York University at the New York Regional Challenge held at Clark Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers finish the season with 14-25 record, while NYU moves to 25-6 in 2013.
 
NYU took the first set, 25-18, then annexed set two 25-14, and set three, 25-14.
 
Offensively, freshman #
Sarah Szybist (Chicago, IL/Ramstein)# led the Tigers with 14 kills, hitting .281. She finished her brilliant first year with 590 kills, fourth-most in one season at the university. She averaged 4.72 kills/set and 5.32 points/set, both of which are currently top-five in all of Division III.
 
Freshman #
Emma Dowdy (Cocoa, FL/Edgewood)# led the squad with 10 assists, eight digs, and added four kills. Junior #
Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier)# recorded six digs, giving her a team-best 540 this season, twelfth most in one season at RIT. #
Lauren Gotsch (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) added three service aces and two blocks.  (Chicago, IL/Ramstein)Taylor Harkness (Batavia, NY/Batavia) and 
Arielle Pariente (Twinsburg, OH/Twinsburg)# combined to record 11 assists.
 
Emily Moore led NYU with 22 assists, 17 digs, and three service aces. MaTia Hughes added 15 digs, while Alex Mao led a balanced offensive attack with nine kills.
 
Szybist led the Tigers with 590 kills and 66 blocks this season. Dowdy had a team-best 615 assists, while #
Sara Martin (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit)# led the way with 50 service aces. Davis had 540 digs.
