ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's hockey team makes the short trip west on I-90 to face Atlantic Hockey Association rival Canisius College at the Buffalo State Sports Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:05 p.m.
RIT (1-5-2, 1-2-0 AHA), who was off last weekend, will look for its second straight win after a 4-2 win at Robert Morris on Nov. 9.
Ben Lynch (Blaine, MN/Lincoln Stars) scored a goal and added an assist, while
Matt Garbowsky (St. George, Ontario/Powell River Kings) dished out a pair of assists.
Todd Skirving (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Sioux Falls Stampede) scored his first collegiate goal, while
Greg Noyes (Lucan, Ontario/Salmon Arm Silverbacks) also scored. Ruby made a season-best 37 saves in the win.
Mike Colavecchia (Maple, Ontario/Lindsay Muskies) leads the team in scoring with eight points on five goals and three assists. Garbowsky is right behind with seven points on two goals and five assists. In net, Ruby has appeared in all eight games, recording a 3.33 goals against average and .898 save percentage.
The RIT power-play is third nationally, converting at 28.6 percent (10-for-35) this season.
Canisius (2-7-0, 1-3-0 AHA) enters Tuesday's contest looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Last weekend, the Golden Griffins lost a pair of non-conference games at Ohio State, 3-0 and 3-1. The Golden Griffins have been out-scored by its opponents, 33-18 this season. Ben Danford leads Canisius with seven points on a goal and six assists, while Kyle Gibbons has a team-best three goals. In goal, Tony Capobianco and Keegan Asmundson have split time. Asmundson is 2-2-0 with a 2.50 goals against average and .931 save percentage, while Capobianco is 0-5-0 with a 4.24 goals against average and .886 save percentage.
RIT is 55-18-1 all-time against the Golden Griffins and 16-8-0 since the start of the 2005-06 season. The Tigers lost all three meetings against Canisius last season. Canisius defeated RIT 6-3 and 6-5 at Ritter Arena, and 4-2 at Buffalo State Sports Arena.
