SCHENECTADY, NY - The RIT volleyball team (14-17, 3-5 Liberty League) suffered two tough losses to league foes Vassar (17-13, 7-5 Liberty League) and Union (18-7, 7-2 Liberty League) at Union College on Saturday afternoon. RIT lost the first match to Vassar in four sets and fell to Union in three sets.
In the opener against Vassar, RIT won the first set 25-19, before Vassar won the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-23.

Sarah Szybist (Chicago, IL/Ramstein)# led the Tigers with 28 kills to go along with nine digs, while hitting .316. #
Sara Martin (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit)# slammed 12 kills and had a team-best three service aces, while #
Emma Dowdy (Cocoa, FL/Edgewood) dished out 35 assists. (Chicago, IL/Ramstein)Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier)# had a team-best 15 digs, while #
Abby Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru)# had three blocks.
Clara Cardillo led the Brewers with 14 kills and five blocks, while Marie Pitre hit .625 with 10 kills and four blocks. Rose Carman dished out 42 assists, while Chole Hallum added 18 digs.
Union was in control of the final match of the afternoon, defeating RIT 25-16, 25-19, 25-11. Szybist slammed 19 kills and added nine digs to pace RIT, while Dowdy had 22 assists. Martin added six kills, while Davis had 10 digs. #
Anna Valentine (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon)# added nine digs and two blocks, while Higgins recorded three blocks.
Rachel Wyman led Union with 12 kills, while hitting .550. Marissa Vollmer had 14 digs, while Amanda Price recorded 16 assists.
The Tigers have one more weekend of Liberty League play remaining, next weekend at home and will need to win all four matches to have a chance at the postseason tournament
RIT returns to action on Tuesday with a single, non-conference against St. John Fisher at Clark Gym. The match gets underway at 7 p.m.
