ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT men's hockey team embarks on its first road trip and looks for its first victory of the 2013-14 season, traveling north to face Clarkson University of the ECAC in a pair of non-conference contests on Friday and Saturday. Friday's contest from Cheel Arena gets underway at 7 p.m., while Saturday's game begins at 7:30 p.m.

RIT looks for its first win this season, after dropping a pair of games last weekend. RIT opened with a 4-1 loss to Colgate, then fell 7-4 to Michigan in front of a sold out crowd of 10,556 fans at Blue Cross Arena as part of Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend. Ben Lynch (Blaine, MN/Lincoln Stars) leads the team in scoring with three points on two goals and an assist. Nolan Descoteaux (Dallas, TX/South Shore Kings) and Mike Colavecchia (Maple, Ontario/Lindsay Muskies) have a goal and an assists apiece, while Matt Garbowsky (St. George, Ontario/Powell River Kings) has the other RIT goal. In net, Jordan Ruby (Tavistock, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) started both games last weekend, and has 52 saves.

Clarkson enters the weekend contests with a 3-1-0 record after splitting a pair of games at the Icebreaker Tournament at the University of Minnesota. Last Friday, the Golden Knights fell to New Hampshire, 4-1 in the opener, and rebounded with a 5-2 win over Mercyhurst in the third place game on Saturday. Ben Sexton tallied a goal and two assists and Steve Perry made 23 saves in the victory. Clarkson has outscored its opponents, 10-7 early on this season. Sexton leads the Golden Knights with four points on a goal and three assists. Ten different players have scored goals for Clarkson. Perry is 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and .964 save percentage.

Clarkson leads the all-time series 10-2-2 and is 4-0-1 vs. RIT since the Tigers moved to Division I in 2005. Last season, the two teams skated to a 3-3 tie in front of a sellout crowd at Ritter Arena. Ben Lynch (Blaine, MN/Lincoln Stars) and Brad McGowan (Langley, British Columbia/Surrey Eagles) had a goal and an assist apiece for the Tigers.

Both games this weekend will be aired live online and can be heard as always on WITR 89.7 FM or witr.rit.edu. Live stats will also be available here.
