CANTON, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team (4-11, 0-6 Liberty League) went on the road on Saturday, losing to St. Lawrence (6-9, 4-2 Liberty League), 68-53 in Liberty League action from Burkman Gymnasium. The Tigers dropped their seventh straight game.
Senior captain,
Nick Dobson (Corning, NY/Corning West) led RIT with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists. Mike D'Amico added nine points, while
Kamron Davis (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Brady Condlin led St. Lawrence with a game-high 20 points and six rebounds, who improve to 6-9 overall and 4-2 in the league.
It was a back-and-forth affair for much of the opening half. St. Lawrence closed out the half with a 14-2 run, taking a 40-28 lead at the intermission.
The Saints stretched its lead to 13 points at 12:26 of the second half, leading 48-35, on a pair of free throws.
RIT, responded with an 11-2 run over the next 5:00 minutes. A jumper by #J.P. Reagan# brought the Tigers within four (48-44) with under 7:00 minutes left. St. Lawrence was able to push its advantage back into double figures (58-46) when Payton Stahler made good on an old fashioned 3-point play with 3:44 left.
A 3-pointer by D'Amico followed by a layup by Dobson brought RIT back to within reach once again (58-51) with 2:20 remaining, but the Saints were a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line down the stretch to close out the 68-53 victory.
RIT shot 35.1 percent from the field on 20-of-57 shooting. The Tigers made 4-of-17 three point attempts and were 9-of-12 from the foul line.
The Tigers return home to face Vassar College in Liberty League action from Clark Gym on Friday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m.
