Women's soccer shuts out Olivet at Carroll Classic

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH -- The RIT (2-2-0) women's soccer team rebounded from a tough loss on Friday to shut out Olivet College 4-0 on day two of the Carroll Classic hosted by John Carroll University. Rachael Bromson (Suffield, CT/Suffield) scored two goals for the Tigers earning All-Tournament Team honors.

Bromson, Jaimie Lewandowski (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) and Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport) were all-tournament team selections for the Tigers. Lewandowski had a goal and an assist on Saturday, while Vakiener scored RIT's lone goal on Friday.

RIT dominated play, out shooting Olivet 21-5. The Tigers took five corner kicks to none for Olivet.

Alyssa Henkel (Newark, NY/Newark) got the start in net for RIT, making four saves while picking up her first win of the season. Emma Esposito (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) played the final 9:18 and made one save.

Lewandowski opened the scoring for RIT in the tenth minute with her first goal of the season off an assist from Henkel.

Bromson scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon in the 12th minute. She gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead with her second goal of the game in the 13th minute off an assist from Lewandowski.

Elizabeth May (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) closed out the scoring for RIT with her first collegiate goal in the 56th minute to make it a 4-0 final.

RIT returns to action on Wednesday, September when the Tigers take on cross-town rival The University of Rochester at 7 pm at Fauver Stadium.
