SCHENECTADY, NY -- The RIT (6-2-0, 1-0-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 road win over Union College (6-1-0, 0-1-0 Liberty League) in Liberty League action on Saturday. Matt Broedel (Hamilton, NY/Hamilton), Sean Sullivan (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) and Danny Bloshkin (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) each scored goals for the Tigers, who have now won three straight games.

The Tigers held the early advantage as they were able to generate good chances. Union struggled to maintain the ball as the RIT attack tested Union keeper Ryan Carter right away. The sophomore stopped a couple of shots early in the first half.

Eventually, the Dutchmen were able to regain momentum and began to test the Tiger defense. Sebastiaan Jansen scored his 10th goal of the season to put the Dutchmen up 1-0 in the 24th minute on an assist from Jake Soodek.

The Tigers responded with the equalizer quickly as Broedel scored his second goal of the season on a shot from 12 yards out from a feed from Andy Fleckenstein (Farmington, NY/Victor) to make it 1-1 in 31st minute.

Union nearly captured the lead again as Nick Vozzella found himself alone with goalkeeper Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and successfully chipped the ball over the netminder. However, the ball struck the left post and Conway was able to gather the loose ball before it crossed the line.

The Tigers struck again in the 38th minute as Sullivan poked home his first goal of the season after the ball found him through a mess of Dutchmen and Tigers off a corner kick to give RIT a 2-1 lead.

Neither team could generate any other chances, as RIT was able to take the one-goal advantage into halftime.

Bloshkin gave the Tigers a two-goal cushion in the 49th minute off an assist from John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park).

The Tiger defense limited the chances for Jansen and the Dutchmen to gain shots on net in the second half.

Union looked to pull within a goal with under 10 minutes left as Dean Constant fed the ball across the RIT penalty box to Carl Faber but could not connect with the shot. The Tigers were able to hold on to the final whistle to open the conference schedule with a win on the road.

RIT held a 19-10 shot advantage over Union. The Tigers took 10 corner kicks to just four for the Dutchmen.

Conway picked up his sixth win of the season allowing one goals and making four saves. Ryan Carter had nine saves for Union, allowing three goals taking the loss.

RIT returns to action on Friday, September 28 when the Tigers host Skidmore College in Liberty League action at 4 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
