TROY, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team (10-7) fell to William Smith (9-8) 14-10 in the second semifinal of the Liberty League Tournament held at the campus of RPI in Troy, NY. The Tigers end their first season in the Liberty League with a 7-2 record, finishing in second. William Smith advances to the championship game on Saturday, where they will meet Rensselear for a chance to represent the Liberty League in the NCAA Tournament.

Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# finishes the season with 115 points, the most in program history. She currently holds RIT records for goals in a season, points in a season, career goals and career points.
Senior #
Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# ends her illustrious career as the Tigers' second highest scorer, with 196 points.
The Tigers got down early, trailing 6-2 at the half, and couldn't recover. Vakiener scored five goals, while Lampson added two goals and two assists. Goaltender #
Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# made 12 saves on the day.
RIT attempted a comeback late in the second half, scoring six of the games' final seven goals. Vakiener got the rally started with just under nine minutes to play. #
Tina Podrasky (Scranton, PA/Wyoming Seminary)# added another less than one minute later, followed by a pair by Lampson. The Herons would score one more, before Vakiener added her fifth and final goal, and
Marlee Vlassi (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) picked up her second of the day.
