Women's lacrosse loses to Lynchburg in wild game

EDGEWOOD, MD -- The RIT (1-1) women's lacrosse team lost a wild game to Lynchburg College 20-19 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

RIT led 7-3 at the half, but were outscored 17-12 in the second half. Lynchburg's Kendall Atkin tallied six goals including the game-winner with 43 seconds to play in regulation.

The Tigers had a chance to tie in the final seconds. RIT won the draw, came down and worked the ball around. #Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# had a shot, but the Lynchburg goalie came up with the big save to preserve the win.

Senior Rebecca Lamspon led RIT with seven points on six goals and an assist. Vakiener added six goals, and #Ashleigh Caruso (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# added three goals. 

Devin Villagomez (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) tallied her first collegiate goal and Marlee Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) had three assists. 

RIT returns to action on March 17 when the Tigers face SUNY Fredonia at 12 p.m. in Fredonia, New York.
