CORTLAND, NY – The No. 1 women's hockey team (22-1-1, 15-1-1 ECAC West) tied the program record for most regular season wins in a season with 22, blanking SUNY Cortland (5-15-1, 3-13-1 ECAC West) 7-0 at Alumni Arena on Friday afternoon.
With a win in the regular season finale on Saturday, RIT will be the 2011-12 ECAC West regular season champions and host the ECAC West Tournament on March 3-4.

The Tigers out-shot Cortland, 58-11. Katie Double stopped 51 shots for the Red Dragons.
RIT was 3-for-5 with the power-play and held Cortland scoreless in a pair of attempts with the man-advantage. RIT now has 38 power-play goals in 24 games this season. Overall, RIT is out-scoring opponents 120-24.
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play, out-shooting Cortland, 20-3.
Schlattman opened the scoring 6:49 into the game, as she took a feed from #
Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas)# in front and slid a shot past Double for her 11th tally of the year.
Just 30 seconds later, Kunichika skated out from the left wing boards on the power-play and rifled a wrist shot over the shoulder of Double for her 15th goal of the year.
At the 11:33 mark, Maugeri poked in a rebound for her third tally of the season.
Zach made it 4-0 Tigers just 3:13 into the second period, as her centering pass went off a Cortland defender and into the goal.
In the third period, Kunichika netted her second of the game and 16th of the year on the power-play four minutes into the third period to make it 5-0.
While playing 4-on-4, Read fired a shot from the point through a screen and past Double with 2:01 left.
Brown netted a power-play goal with 25 seconds left, converting on a rebound after Double made two big saves on #

RIT has now won 18 straight over the Red Dragons and leads the all-time series between the two schools, 18-8. RIT has outscored the Red Dragons, 126-14 during the streak.
RIT concludes the 2011-12 regular season on Saturday, at Cortland, once again at 2 p.m.
