Final Results

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's swimming and diving teams finished fourth out of eight teams at the 2012 Liberty League Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by RIT at Judson Pool. The Tigers posted a team score of 371.5 points. Sophomore diver John Tellgren (Anoka, MN/Anoka) was named Co-Diver of the Year.

RIT opened Friday's action with a second place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay as the team of Ryan Brannan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), Scott Farrell (Buffalo, NY/North Tonawanda), Derek Brown (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) and Cory Deacon (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) posted a time of 1:27.58.

Cory Deacon (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) was second in the 50-yard Freestyle finishing in a time of 21.67. Ryan Brennan finished ninth for the Tigers in a time of 22.03, while Derek Brown (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) placed in a tie for 14th with a time 22.29.

The team of Scott Matchett (Rochester, NY/Brighton), Alex Madar (Suffern, NY/Suffern), Ryan Brennan and Scott Farrell (Buffalo, NY/North Tonawanda) placed fourth in the 400 Medley Relay in a time of 3:41.31.

Sophomore John Tellgren (Anoka, MN/Anoka) won the 3-meter diving event with a final score of 553.60. Matt DePalo (Franklin, MA/Xaverian Brothers) was fifth with a score of 405.70. In the 1-meter event, Tellgren finished second with a final score of 467.35

Saturday saw the team of Hatchett, Alex Madar (Suffern, NY/Suffern), Ryan Brannan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Cory Deacon (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) take second in the 200 medley relay, finishing in a time of 1:38.89.

Brannon finished ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (54.13), while Madar took home fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.97) and was ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.45).

Matchett was seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (55.71), and Justin Morris (Marlborough, MA/Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School) was eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.03).

The team of Brannan, Scott Farrell (Buffalo, NY/North Tonawanda), Derek Brown (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) and Cory placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 3:18.02.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 8 when the Tigers host Utica College at 1 pm at Judson Pool.
