ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team opened the 2012-13 campaign with a convincing 80-55 win over Niagara College in exhibition action from Clark Gym on Friday night.

Senior guard #Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) led RIT with 24 points and seven steals. (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove)Kayla Wheeler (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa)# added 16 points and four rebounds, while #Mallory Apperson (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove)# scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and added a steal for teh Tigers who shot 35.6 percent from the field on 26-of-73 shooting.

Lauren Brew led Niagara College with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Allana Arundell added 13 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Knights who shot 31.7 percent from the floor on 19-of-60 shooting.

RIT opens the season on November 27 at the Wendy's College Classic. Opponent and game site have yet to be detemined.
