ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team will look to pick up its first wins as a Division I program, as the squad travels to play Sacred Heart at the Wonderland of Ice for a pair of non conference games. Friday's contest begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's starts at 2 p.m.

The Tigers made history by playing in their first two Division I games last weekend, losing 6-2 and 7-0 to No. 10 Mercyhurst at Ritter Arena. On Friday, freshmen #Katie Hubert (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) and Carly Payerl (Kitchener, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic)# scored RIT's goals. Payerl scored RIT's first ever Division I goal 4:56 into the second period, redirecting a point shot from #Ellesha Fortuna (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas)# into the net.

The Tigers lead the nation in home attendance this season, averaging 693 fans per game through two contests.

Sacred Heart, playing its first two games of the year, finished the 2011-12 season with an 11-17-1 record. Melissa Robbins returns after scoring 10 goals in 24 games last year. In net, Alexius Schutt was 10-14-1 with a 3.65 goals against average and .915 save percentage.

RIT is 7-3-2 all-time against the Pioneers, last playing during the 2008-09 season. RIT defeated Sacred Heart 11-3 in the last meeting between the two teams on Jan. 3, 2009.
