ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's hockey team will host its annual “Skate With the Tigers” event on Friday, October 5 at 8 p.m., which will be held at Frank Ritter Arena. The following evening, RIT hosts the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday evening in an exhibition contest at 7 p.m.
Skate With the Tigers is $5, which includes a skate rental and team picture sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations that can be signed by your favorite RIT players and coaches. All proceeds will go to the Hockey Coaches Care Foundation. Hockey Coaches Care is an organization committed to helping members of the amateur hockey community in times of need, as well as organizations within the amateur hockey community that seek to serve the best interests of its members.
As an added bonus, fans in attendance will be treated to a tour of the Tigers new locker room that evening immediately following Skate With the Tigers.
Saturday's game will be aired live over the airwaves on WITR 89.7 FM and online at
http://witr.rit.edu. Tickets are available for Saturday's games at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center Box Office or by phone at (585) 475-4121. Fans can also purchase tickets online at www.rithockey.com. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for RIT faculty, staff and alumni and $5 for students with ID. Fans can also buy special reserved seats in Section 100 or 101 for $13 (adults), $11 (faculty/staff/alumni) or $8 (students). Buying a reserved section ticket will guarantee you a seat for the game.
The Tigers open the regular season on Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12 at No. 3 Michigan at famed Yost Arena. Both games get underway at 7:35 p.m.
On Saturday, October 20, RIT hosts Penn State at Blue Cross Arena at 7:35 p.m. That game is part of Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.
