PLATTSBURGH, NY -- The RIT women's hockey team (14-0-1) had its season-long 14-game winning streak snapped, but extended its unbeaten streak to 15 with a 1-1 tie at No. 8 SUNY Plattsburgh (9-3-2) on Friday evening in a battle of nationally-ranked opponents.

Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons) hitting the back of the net off of a pass from (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres)Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects)# at the 12:38 mark of the first period. The Cardinals tied the game up 1:02 later, with Teal Gove notching her eighth of the season.
From there, the defenses and goaltenders shined. RIT goaltender #
Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# was solid in net, stopping 24 of 25 shots to improve to 8-0-1 this season. Plattsburgh's Sydney Aveson made 20 saves for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals outshot the Tigers 25-21, but RIT was more aggresive in the third period, firing seven shots to Plattsburgh's four.
Junior forward #
Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects)# had her 23-game point-scoring streak dating back to last season snapped tonight. She had recorded a point in all of RIT's games dating back to Jan. 29, 2011, nearly a calendar year. During the streak, Yokoyama recorded 32 points on four goals and 28 assists.
Both teams had four penalties and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
RIT is 3-8-3 all-time against Plattsburgh, with the last three regular season meetings ending in a tie. The Tigers are 1-0-3 in the last four meetings against the two schools.
The two teams will finish their regular season series on Saturday at 3 p.m.
