The RIT wrestling team (2-1) suffered its first dual match loss of the 2011-12 season, falling to No. 4 Ithaca College (5-0) 31-10 on Wednesday evening at the Clark Gym. #
Rory Bruce (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda)#, #
Sean Sercu (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) and
Tyler Brent (Gasport, NY/Royalton-Hartland)# each picked up wins for the Tigers.
Bruce won in the 133 lbs. weight class over Marvin Amazan 12-4. Bruce was winning 11-4 at the end of the match, but gained the extra point with riding time. Sercu was victorious in a marathon match against Jason Fraser 3-1. The wrestlers were tied at one after the third round and it took five extra periods to decide the winner, with Sercu getting two points for the takedown. Brent needed a come from behind effort to defeat Kyle McKeighan 4-3. The match was tied late in the third round, with McKeighan holding the edge in riding time, before Brent got the takedown and the win.

Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne)# was tied with Grant Dickey before being forced to retire after sustaining an injury. Junior #
Nick Fuschino (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts)# was strong against Jules Doliscar, the third ranked wrestler in the country at the 174 lbs. weight class, eventually losing 6-4. Fuschino went up 2-0, but Doliscar battled back to gain the lead and the win. Sophomore #
Dave Sickler (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon)# was impressive in his match with Thomas Heckman. Sickler trailed 4-3 late in the third period, but a second stall by Heckman tied the score at four, sending the match into overtime, where Heckman eventually won.
The Tigers conclude the calendar year with a road match at SUNY Cortland on Saturday at 1 p.m.
