Wrestling drops a pair of matches to nationally-ranked opponents

CORTLAND, NY - The RIT wrestling team (2-3) dropped a pair of matches to nationally ranked foes at Cortland on Satutrday afternoon. The Tigers opened the day by losing to No. 21 Messiah (3-2) 42-6, then fell to the hosts (6-0) ranked No. 8 in Division III, 42-3.

Against Messiah, #Nick Stewart (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin)# picked up RIT's points, securing a pin in 52 seconds against Mike DiOrio at 285 lbs. .

#Nick Fuschino (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts)# scored RIT's points against Cortland, defating Justin Signorelli at 174 lbs., 10-5. #Tyler Brent (Gasport, NY/Royalton-Hartland)# wrestled well in a close 4-3 loss to Mike McGrath at 184 lbs.

RIT will return to action at the New York/Pennsylvania duals, held on Sunday, January 8, 2012.
