No. 1 women's hockey picks up 17th consecutive win with shutout over Chatham

PITTSBURGH, PA -
The No. 1 RIT women's hockey team made it 17 straight victories to start the 2010-11 season, recording its seventh shutout, 7-0 over Chatham (0-8-0, 0-8-0 ECAC West) on Sunday afternoon.  RIT improved to 10-0-0 in ECAC West play.  Seven different players scored goals for RIT.

#Kylie Mazzetta (Lakewood, CO/Colorado Selects)# scored a goal and added two assists to lead RIT.  #Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta) and Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY)# tallied a goal and assist apiece.  #Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas)#, #Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)#, #Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks) and Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# also scored for RIT.

McCrea now leads the nation with 15 goals in 15 games. 

Dagg moved into a tie for first place all-time at RIT with 83 career assists.  She now has 139 points (56-83-139) in 96 career games.  Stack tallied her 74th career goal, five shy of the all-time record at RIT.

The Tigers scored twice in the first, three times in the second period, and twice in the third.

RIT out-shot Chatham, 52-7.  #Carley King (Tinley Park, IL)# made seven saves to record her third shutout of the season, and sixth of her career.

Kaitkyn Smith stopped 45 shots for Chatham.

RIT was 2-for-6 with the man-advantage, and held Chatham scoreless in three attempts with the man-advantage.

The Tigers have out-scored its opponents, 110-14 this season.  They lead the nation in goals per game (6.47) and power-play percentage (27.9 percent).

The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday at Ritter Arena with a pair of games against No. 3 SUNY Plattsburgh.  The Tigers will wear special black jerseys to help "Black Out Heart Disease."
