POTSDAM, NY -- The RIT women's volleyball team was defeated by Clarkson University 3-2 (25-23, 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 10-15) at the Clarkson Tournament on Friday night. The loss breaks a four-match winning streak by the Tigers as they fall to 17-7 on the season.
RIT came out strong in the first set, winning 25-23. The Tigers dropped the next two sets 16-25 and 21-25, but rallied in the fourth set winning 25-19. In the fifth and deciding set the Tigers fell 10-15.
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) and
Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) paced the Tigers offensively. Moore had 13 kills hitting .225 on the match. She added 10 digs and had an assisted block. Schaffer led the Tigers with 20 kills and 12 digs.
Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) had 41 assists, three kills and 10 digs.
Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) added seven kills, 14 digs, three assisted blocks and three service aces.
RIT will face St. Lawrence University tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm.
