ONEONTA, NY -
The RIT women's soccer team (7-2-3, 2-1-2 Empire 8) picked up its second shutout of the weekend, handing host Hartwick (5-4-2, 2-1-2) its first Empire 8 loss of the season, 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Elmore Field.  The two teams are tied in the Empire 8 conference standings with eight points.

Freshman midfielder Alexa Martinez (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) scored a pair of first goals and assisted on Kasey Dobrodziej (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor)'s second half tally.

The Tigers out-shot Hartwick by just a 5-3 margin in the first half but managed to tally on two of their opportunities. RIT got on the board early in the first 10 minutes of play when Martinez collected a loose ball in the 18 off a corner kick by Chelsea Shoemaker (Rochester, NY/Aquinas), and ripped the ball past Hawks' goalie Alyssa Rondo. Twenty-two minutes later, Martinez found the back of the Hawks net again, one-timing a passed ball from Katlyn Gregg (Williamson, NY/Williamson).

The last marker for the Tigers came 15 minutes into the second half, when Dobrodziej finished off a scramble. An RIT corner found the head of Martinez but her shot was cleared off the line, but Dobrodziej was right there to fire in the rebound from five yards away.

RIT held a slim 11-10 lead in shots and 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.  Junior Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) recorded four saves in 71 minutes, while sophomore Alyssa Henkel (Newark, NY/Newark) ended the game with one save in 19 minutes to combine for RIT's sixth shutout of the season. Rondo collected five saves for the Hawks.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, as they host nationally-ranked Empire 8 foe Ithaca during Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.  The contest gets underway at 2:30 p.m.
