ELMIRA, NY – The RIT No. 2 women's hockey team (21-3-2) had its eight-game winning streak snapped by No. 3 SUNY Plattsburgh, 7-3 in the ECAC West semifinals at the Murray Athletic Center hosted by Elmira College on Saturday afternoon. RIT will now await a possible at-large bid into the 2009 NCAA Tournament, with the selection show taking place at 10 a.m. on Monday.
The Cardinals (22-3-2) scored four unanswered goals spanning the final minute of the first period and first 13:52 of the second period to snap a 1-1 tie. Plattsburgh led 5-2 after two periods.
The seven goals allowed by RIT is a season-high and most allowed since a 7-0 loss to Plattsburgh on Dec. 9, 2005.
The Tigers out-shot Plattsburgh 38-29 and held the Cardinals top-ranked power-play scoreless in seven chances. RIT was 1-for-6 on the power-play.

Seven different players scored for Plattsburgh, who are unbeaten in 13 straight games (12-0-1). Stephanie Moberg led the way with a goal and three assists. Danielle Blanchard had a goal and an assist, while Shay Bywater added two assists. Danielle Beattie stopped 35 shots in the win for the Cardinals, who will play Elmira in the ECAC West Championship at 3 p.m. The winner of that game receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

#Amy Torgerson (Owatonna, MN/Gilmour Academy)# (Wentzville, MO) made eight saves in 22:34. Grant played the final 4:02.
