GENEVA, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team was defeated by #12 William Smith College 1-0 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, New York. The Tigers finish the 2009 season with a 7-7-3 record.

The lone goal was scored in the 16th minute by the Herons. Kate Redmond dribbled around a RIT defender and scored from five yards out, giving William Smith a 1-0.

That lead held up as the Herons defense held RIT to just one shot. William Smith had six corner kicks to two for the Tigers.

Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) took the loss for RIT, allowing one goal and making seven saves. Amanda Davis picked up the win for William Smith, allowing no goals on no shots on goal.

The Tigers finished the season strong, playing two ranked opponents tough. RIT beat #11 the University of Rochester, 2-1 and fell today to #11 William Smith.
