ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team was defeated by Hartwick College (3-5-0, 2-1-0 E8) 2-1 in Empire 8 action on Saturday afternoon. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak by the Tigers and drops them to 3-4-3 overall and 0-3-0 in the Empire 8.
RIT out shot Hartwick 15-12 as each team had five corner kicks. The Tigers were whistled for seven fouls to Hartwick's 10.
Hartwick took an early lead, scoring in the 18th minute on a goal by Mackenzie Shipley. The goal broke RIT's scoreless string at 354:20.

Jennifer Wilkens (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) scored from 30 yards out on a free kick. She drilled a shot that knuckled over Hatwick keeper Kelly Griffin for her first of the season.
That score held until the 87th minute when Lauren Ploof drilled home a rebound off a shot from Erin McSherry. Her shot was blocked by a RIT defender, but the rebound came right to Ploof who one-timed it in for the go-ahead goal.
Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) took the loss, allowing two goals and making four saves. Kelly Griffin picked up the win for Hartwick allowing one goal and making six saves.
RIT is off until Saturday, October 10 when they host Stevens at 1 pm on RIT Field.
