ITHACA, NY - The RIT volleyball team (3-5) extended its winning streak to three matches, upending SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Oneonta on Saturday to garner fifth=place honors at the 2008 Ithaca Invitational. RIT opened the day by defeating SUNY Oneonta in four games, 26-24, 24-26, 25-12, 25-10. The Tigers ended the tournament by defeating SUNY Oneonta in five games, 25-14, 15-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-10.
Junior middle hitter
Vic Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) led the way offensively with 18 kills and added a team-best seven blocks in the win over SUNY Geneseo. Freshman
Dani Liesman (Ridgecrest, CA/Burroughs) (Ridgecrest, CA/Burroughs) chipped in with 10 kills. Senior setter
Nichole Boxler (Varysburg, NY/Attica) (Varysburg, NY/Attica) recorded 37 assists.

Kate Gleason (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) tallied four service aces. Freshman libero
Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) recorded a team-best 21 digs.
Petko recorded 11 kills against SUNY Oneonta. Boxler recorded 37 assists. Junior
Angie Croshaw (Sonora, CA/Bret Harte) and Henriksen had 19 and 18 digs, respectively.
On Friday, the Tigers opened the tournament by losing to Union in three games, 25-14, 25-18, 25-13. RIT rebounded later in the evening, downing St. John Fisher, 26-24, 25-20, 25-22.
Gleason was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Tigers host the RIT Invitational next Friday and Saturday at Clark Gym. RIT opens play at 4 p.m. Friday.
