Head Coach Roger Worsley won his 200th career match at RIT, as the Tiger volleyball team (9-12, 2-2 Empire 8) won its first two Empire 8 contests of the season, defeating Ithaca in a thrilling five-set match and Utica in three sets Sunday at Stevens.  RIT lost the first game 25-22, and rallied to win games two and three, 26-24 and 25-17.  Ithaca won the fourth game, 25-23 and RIT won the fifth and deciding game, 15-11.  The Tigers defeated Utica by scores of 25-23, 25-10, 25-15.

Worsley, now in his eighth season at RIT, is 201-100.  The Tigers have won at least 24 matches in all of his previous seven seasons.  He picked up his 200th win in the victory over Ithaca.

Junior middle hitter Vic Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) (East Amherst, NY/Clarence), who slammed the decisive point to win the match, recorded a career-high 33 kills and hit .376.  Senior setter NIchole Boxler (Varysburg, NY/Attica) recorded a season-high 51 assists and added 14 digs. 

Senior Heidi Little (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) chipped in with a career-best 16 kills, while hitting .344. Freshman Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) recorded 21 digs.  Senior Kate Gleason (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) recorded 21 digs and five kills. 

Petko ripped 11 kills and had three service aces, along with hitting .333 in the win over Utica.  Boxler dished out 23 assists and added 12 digs, while Henriksen had a team-high 15 digs. 

The wins snapped a six-match losing streak.

On Wednesday, the Tigers host SUNY Cortland in a non-league match at 7 p.m.  Come out and support the Tigers for "Real Tigers Wear Pink" night, to support breast cancer research.
