Women's Soccer Falls to Nationally Ranked Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team fell to nationally ranked University of Rochester, 4-0 on Tuesday evening at Fauver Stadium. The Yellowjackets came into the game ranked 16th in the latest Division III poll. The loss drops the Tigers to 3-4-1 overall.

Rochester tallied their first goal in the 12th minute on a goal by Bridgette Varin off of a corner kick. Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH) made the initial save but Varin re-directed the ball into the net on a scramble inside the box.

The Tigers kept the score at 1-0 throughout the remainder of the first half and through three-quarters of the second half until the 76th minute when Kirsten Ross gave the Yellowjackets 2-0.

Mae Butler made it 3-0 in the 86th minute off of a free-kick and Varin closed out the scoring in the 88th minute.

The Tigers mustered five shot to the Yellowjackets 20. Conti had a strong game in net for RIT, stopping nine shots.

RIT will play at Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon for an Empire 8 contest. The Tigers will look to go to 2-1 in the Empire 8.
