Women's Tennis Gets Back in Win Column With Lopsided Victory at Hartwick

The RIT women's tennis team ran its record to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in Empire 8 action after defeating Hartwick in an Empire 8 Conference women's tennis match on Friday afternoon.  The Tigers inched closer to clinching an Empire 8 playoff berth.

Sophomore Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) moved to 5-1 in both singles and doubles.  She won at first singles, 6-1, 6-2 and paired with Brianne Francisco (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) to win at first doubles, 8-0.  Francisco also garnered a 6-3, 6-3 victory at second singles.

Junior Alexis Stanley (Vestal, NY/Vestal) (Vestal, NY/Vestal) garnered a 6-1, 6-3 victory at third singles.  Joanna Cash (Rochester, NY/Brighton) (Rochester, NY/Brighton) picked up an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory at fourth singles.  Sara Paduano (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) picked up a 6-3, 6-7, 10-8 win at fifth singles, while freshman Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) moved to 2-0, winning 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 at sixth singles.

Stanley and Kseniya Klyachko (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) annexed an 8-0 victory at third singles.

The Hawks dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in conference matches.

RIT gets right back on the courts Saturday, at Utica.  The match begins at 12 p.m.
