ROCHESTER, NY -
Ashley Pezze (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland)'s (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) scored two second half goals to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the RIT women's soccer team (3-2-1, 1-0-0 Empire 8) to its third straight win, 4-1 over St. John Fisher (1-5-0, 0-1-0 Empire 8) on Wednesday afternoon at RIT Field.  It was the Empire 8 opener for both teams.

Pezze scored goals in the 53rd and 67th minutes, her first two of the season.  The first goal was a blast from 22-yards out went just inside the left goal post.  Her second tally was blasted in from 12-yards out after Shireen Irani (Calgary, AB/National Sports Academy)'s (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports Academy) initial shot rang off the crossbar.

Pezze also added an assist in the final minute, feeding Krystal Adriaansen (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY/Marion), who blasted a shot from the top of the box into the left side of the goal for her first tally of the season.

Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) opened the scoring just 7:26 in with her third goal of the season.  Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) sent a lead pass towards the goal that was fumbled by Ashley Martin.  Main scooped up the loose ball just outside the box and slid a shot in the open net.

The Cardinals got the equalizer in the 23rd minute, as Mary Dougherty drilled a perfect shot from the left side, about 25-yards out the went over the outstretched leap of Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield).  Kelly Zeppetella assisted on the tally.

RIT held a 16-10 overall edge in shots, including 12-4 in the second half.  RIT's defense over the final 45 minutes was stout, holding St. John Fisher to very little in the way of quality scoring chances.

Conti stopped two shots in the win for RIT.  Martin made four saves for St. John Fisher.

The Tigers now lead the all-time series between the two schools, 20-7-1.  RIT is 5-0-1 in its last six games against St. John Fisher.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, as they host Ithaca in an Empire 8 contest starting at 12 p.m.
