ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's tennis team improved to 3-1 overall and in Empire 8 action after defeating Nazareth, 5-4, in an Empire 8 Conference women's tennis match on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers trailed 4-1 before winning the final four matches to earn the victory.
Sophomore
Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) moved to 4-0 in both singles and doubles. She won at first singles, 6-1, 7-6 and paired with
Brianne Francisco (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) to win at first doubles, 8-5.
Sara Paduano (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles. Junior
Alexis Stanley (Vestal, NY/Vestal) (Vestal, NY/Vestal) garnered a 6-3, 6-3 victory at third singles, while Francisco won the decisive point in three sets, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4.
The Golden Flyers dropped to 2-2 both overall and in conference matches.
RIT is back on Wednesday, as they host the University of Rochester at 4 p.m.
