ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team defeated Clarkson University 4-0 in non-conference action at RIT Field. The win improves RIT to 2-2-1 overall while Clarkson falls to 2-3-1 on the season.
Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) gave RIT a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game.
Krystal Adriaansen (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY/Marion) fed a ball from the left flank off a free kick that Traversi ran ont and headed into the net.
Monica Cook (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) made it 2-0 with a bomb from 22-yards out in the 37th minute. She ripped a shot with a defender draped all over her from just outside the Clarkson box that found the top right corner.
Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley) (Holley, NY/Holley) gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the 64th minute off of a deflection inside Clarkson's box.
Kim Hunt (Brockport, NY/Brockport) (Brockport, NY/Brockport) tallied her first collegiate goal in the 90th minute off a corner kick giving the Tigers a 4-0 advantage.
Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made her first start as a Tiger and picked up her first collegiate victory, stopping four shots.
The Tigers out-shot the Golden Knights 18-6.
RIT will open Empire 8 play on Wednesday, September 17 when they host St. John Fisher College at 4 pm on RIT Field.
