POTSDAM, NY --
The RIT men's soccer team dropped their fourth straight one-goal decision, losing to Clarkson University 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in non-league action. The loss drops RIT to 1-4-0 overall while Clarkson improved to 4-2-1 on the season.

Bobby Bullard (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) tallied RIT's lone goal in the 16th minute. He headed a ball in off a cross from Jeff Diaz (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. The goal snapped a 240-plus minute scoreless streak by Clarkson goalkeeper Mike St. Croix.

The Golden Knights were quick to respond with a goal of their own at 21:17 when senior Cale Samuel scored his second goal of the season, blasting a shot from the right side of the penalty area into the top of the goal.

While the two teams were able to record goals in quick succession, neither team mustered much in the way of shots offensively as Clarkson held a small 5-4 lead. Corner kick opportunities were more plentiful, with the Knights holding a 6-3 advantage in that category.

Clarkson's Scott Desmond deflected the ball over to Matias Pena, who followed with a hard shot from the middle of the field about 10 yards out for his first goal of the season and second of his career.

Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) took the loss, stopping five shots for RIT. Mike St. Croix made a single save in the victory for the Knights.

RIT will look to snap their skid next Saturday when they host Skidmore College at 3 pm on RIT Field.
