HOBOKEN, NJ -- The RIT (5-6, 3-2 E8) men's lacrosse team dropped their second straight game, losing to Stevens (6-3, 4-1 E8) 8-6 on Sunday afternoon in Empire 8 action in Hoboken, New Jersey. The Tigers scored just two second half goals, firing only nine shots. Senior
Andrew Ruocco (Corning, NY/Corning East) (Corning, NY/Corning East) became the sixth player in the history of the men's lacrosse program to record 200 career points.
RIT was out shot 39-26 and lost the ground ball battle 35-24. The Tigers lost 10-of-17 face-offs and were 12-of-22 on clearing attempts.
Ruocco led the Tigers, tallying two goals and two assists. He now has 202 points in his career on 122 goals and 80 assists.
Iric Bressler (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) had a goal and an assist and
Chris Ferry (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder), Wes Adam (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) (Lafayette, NY) and
Dan Rago (Geneva, NY) each had a goal.
Brad Conlon (Ottawa, ON/Bridgton Academy) (Ottawa, ON/Bridgton Academy) took the loss, making eight saves and allowing eight goals.
The Tigers led 2-1 after the first quarter on a pair of
Andrew Ruocco (Corning, NY/Corning East) goals. He opened the scoring at the 8:38 mark of the first. He made it 2-0 with his second goal at 3:01 on an assist from Bressler.
Chris Ferry (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and Dan Rago scored for RIT in the second quarter, but the Ducks tallied three goals in the quarter, tying the game at 4-4 heading into half time.
Each team traded goals in the third quarter. Bressler tied the game at 5-5 as time ran out in the quarter, giving RIT momentum heading into the fourth quarter.
Stevens grabbed the momentum scoring three straight goals in the fourth quarter, taking an 8-5 lead.
Wes Adam (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) added a goal inside the final minute of play on an assist from Ruocco but it wasn't enough for the Tigers who lose their second straight conference game.
The Tigers will look to break their losing streak on Wednesday when they host Alfred University in Empire 8 action.
