ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT softball team (16-16, 5-7 Empire 8) split a crucial pair of Empire 8 conference games at Alfred (13-9, 4-4 Empire 8) on Sunday, winning game one, 6-4 before falling by a score of 5-0 in the nightcap on Sunday afternoon.

In game one, the Tigers broke the game open with five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead before Alfred made a big rally with four runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.  Emily McPherson (Pompey, NY/Fabius-Pompey) (Pompey, NY/Fabius-Pompey) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and run batted in.  Allison Ingalls (Cuba, NY/Cuba-Rushford) (Cuba, NY-Cuba-Rushford) had two hits and two RBIs.  Rachel Richards (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) drove in a pair of runs as well.

Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) (Alden, NY/Alden) picked up the win on the mound, allowing two earned runs in the seven inning, complete-game.

Holly Siedewand went 4-for-4 in game one for Alfred.

In game two, Alfred got to Cole, scoring a run in the second and third innings and three times in the fifth.

Jesika LeBarron held the Tigers to just seven singles in the complete-game win for Alfred. McPherson and Ingalls had two hits each for the Tigers in the loss.

Seidewand was 3-for-4 with a double and home run, while Karen Folts went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Saxons.

RIT is currently fifth in the Empire 8, behind Alfred, who is in fourth.  RIT needs Alfred to lose at least three of its final four games to make the tournament.
