ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at St. John Fisher College on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers battled, dropping game one 5-3 and game two by a score of 3-2.
Senior, Rachel Richards (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) started the bats for the Tigers in the second inning with a homerun. She also went 3-for -3 at the plate for the Tigers in the first game, driving in all three runs.
Fisher rallied at the top of the seventh inning scoring 4 runs. After the third inning Fisher's starter Shevchuk allowed just one more RIT hit, Rachel Richards (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy), in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) (Alden, NY/Alden) took the loss in game one for the Tigers, striking out two batters.
In game two, RIT started off strong with a run in the first inning brought in by Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) (Alden, NY/Alden). Senior Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) (Penn Yan, NY/ Penn Yan Academy) only allowed five hits.
Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) went 1-for-3 and an RBI. Allison Ingalls (Cuba, NY/Cuba-Rushford) (Cuba, NY/ Cuba-Rushford), went 2-for-4 and Richards went 1-for-3.
Richards went 4-for-7 on the afternoon with a home run and four RBI. Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) took the loss in game two for the Tigers.
RIT falls to 4-8 and 0-2 in Empire Eight.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow, against the University of Rochester in a doubleheader at University of Rochester. The twin-bill gets underway at 3 p.m.
