ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (6-4, 4-3) defeated Hartwick 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Field House.  With the win, the Tigers clinch a spot in the 2008 Empire 8 Championship, which will be held at RIT next weekend.

Notable Tiger victories included Jose Guzman (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) at first singles who swept Dan Riviello 6-0 and 6-1.  Also, at fifth singles, Joe Schember (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) defeated Dave Altman in a close tiebreaker match with scores of 6-2, 5-7 and 7-6.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow Sunday, April 20 as they travel to Utica to compete in a match that begins at 1 p.m.
