OSWEGO, NY - Sophomore
#Kylie Mazzetta (Lakewood, CO/Colorado Selects)# (Lakewood, CO) recorded her first collegiate hat-trick to lead the #5 RIT women's hockey team (7-1-1, 5-1-1 ECAC West) to a 9-2 win over SUNY Oswego (4-4-1, 2-4-1) on Friday evening. The nine goals scored by the Tigers are the most scored in a game since Jan. 27, 2007.
RIT broke the game open with six third period goals, out-shooting the Lakers 24-1 over the final 20 minutes.
#Keltie Jones (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas)# (Burlington, Ontario) and
#Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)# (Batavia, NY) each scored a goal to go along with three assists.
#Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# (St. George, Ontario) scored twice and added an assist. Senior defenseman
#Maegan Geypens (Oshawa, Ontario/Durham Lightning)# (Oshawa, Ontario) added three assists, giving her 98 career points.
#Kelley Prom (Grafton, WI/Wisconsin Wild)# (Grafton, WI) dished out a career-best two helpers in the win.
Freshmen
#Maggie Giamo (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# (Orchard Park, NY) and
#Erica Owcarczak# (West Seneca, NY) also scored for RIT. Giamo's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
Goaltender
#Sandra Grant (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers)# (Abbottsford, British Columbia) earned her sixth win of the year, stopping 12 shots. Erin Robson made 46 saves for Oswego.
The Tigers out-shot SUNY Oswego 55-14. RIT was 1-for-3 with the man-advantage, while Oswego was 0-for-4. Kelly Collins and Jillian Bergeron scored for Oswego.
RIT has now won four in a row and are unbeaten in their last five games (4-0-1).
The same two teams are in action on Saturday, once again in Oswego at 7 p.m.
