WORCESTER, MA -- For the second straight night the RIT men's hockey team dominated Holy Cross. This night the Tigers came home with a 5-1 victory.
RIT dominated in just about every aspect of the game. The Tigers held the advantage in shots, saves, physical play and most importantly, final score.
The Tigers came out firing in the first period, rifling 16 shots on net and scoring two goals.
Brent Alexin (West Seneca, NY/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) (West Seneca, NY) and
Brennan Sarazin (Nepean, ON/Nepean Raiders) (Nepean, ON) each have goals in the first period for the Tigers who out shot the Crusaders 16-9. Alexin scored on a tip in off a Sarazin shot at the 3:07 mark. Sarazin scored his second in as many nights at 5:39 on an assist from
Bobby Raymond (Lucknow, ON/Owen Sound Greys) (Lucknow, ON).
RIT added another two goals in the second period to open up a 4-0 lead. The Crusaders added a late goal by Joe Brock, to make the score 4-1.
Sean Murphy (Rochester, MN/Green Bay Gamblers) (Owatoona, MN) tallied a power play goal at 7:20 of the second period, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead. He poked home a rebound off of a shot from
Matt Smith (Toronto, ON/Kitchener Dutchmen) (Toronto, ON).
Al Mazur (Burnaby, BC/Merritt Centennials) (Burnaby, BC) had the other assist on the play.
Brent Patry (Ottawa, ON/Cumberland Grads) (Ottawa, ON) made it 4-0, scoring his first goal of the season.
Brennan Sarazin (Nepean, ON/Nepean Raiders) fed him a pass and his well-laced wrist found its way into the net for his first tally of the season.
Brent Alexin (West Seneca, NY/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) picked up his second point of the game with the second assist.
In the third period
Simon Lambert (Ste.-Therese, PQ/Cumberland Grads) (Ste.-Therese, PQ) added an empty-net, short handed goal to put the game away for the Tigers.
The Tigers out shot the Crusaders 40-23.
Louis Menard (Chicoutimi, PQ/Ottawa Jr. Senators) (Chicoutimi, PQ) picked up his seventh win of the season, stopping 23 shots.
RIT's penalty kill unit was outstanding holding the second ranked power play in the country to no goals in six chances.
The Tigers, now 9-7-3overall and 7-4-3 in the AHA, hit the road again next weekend when they travel to Colorado Springs to take on the Air Force Academy.
