POTSDAM, NY – The RIT women's soccer team moved to 2-1-1 in 2007 after earning a 1-1 tie against Clarkson University on Saturday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

RIT took control of the game around the 15-minute mark of the first half and quickly thereafter, got on the scoreboard. Freshman Morgan Eastlack (Albion, NY/Albion) (Albion, NY/Albion) gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead when she sent a low groundball from the top of the penalty box that made its way to the other side of the goal at the 21:02 mark of the first half. The goal was the first of Eastlack's collegiate career.  The Tigers had to great chance in the balance of the half.  in the 23rd minute, Amanda Sisti (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) slotted a cross to a charging Krystal Adriaansen (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY/Marion) who blasted a shot over the right top corner.  In the 35th minute, Sisti found herself on the end of a through ball, beat a defender and put a shot in the upper right corner that Clarkson goal keeper Meagan Emlaw saved.

In the second half, Clarkson had a flurry of shots in the first 15 minutes generated off of two corner kick opportunities, but Tiger goalkeeper Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield) made a series of big saves to keep the lead.

In the next 15 minutes RIT generated two outstanding chances.  In the 59th minute Anna Kolnik (Sharon, WI/Big Foot) (Sharon, WI/Big Foot) broke in to the box and poked a shot with her left that Emlaw made a sprawling save to deny the Tiger the insurance goal.  In the 73rd minute, Adriaansen moved into the CU penalty area past her defender and was taken down hard from behind but no penalty was called.

Clarkson tallied the tying goal with just under 11 minutes left in regulation, as Jill Collins popped a pass over the defense from the midfield line to Ariana Czech, who was controversially onside for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. From about 10 yards away, Czech hit a shot that Conti tipped, but still slipped in to the corner to tie the contest.

After the goal the Tigers tallied six shots in the last ten minutes but Emlaw and the CU defense didn't break.  Ashley Pezze (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) (Schnectady, NY/Guilderland) had the best opportunities ripping one shot off the out side of the left post and another just out side the upper left.

The Tigers controlled a pair of scoreless, 10-minute overtimes but were unable to generate any dangerous chances.

RIT out-shot Clarkson 22-10 in the contest and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.  Emlaw made eight saves for Clarkson, while Conti made a season-high five saves for RIT.
The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to Clinton, N.Y. to play Hamilton College at 4 p.m.
