ROCHESTER, NY --
RIT scored three second-half, defeating Buffalo State 4-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday. Junior Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA) led RIT with a goal and two assists.

RIT had a great chance in the fourth minute to take an early advantage but Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango)'s (Chittenango, NY) penalty shot richocheted off the left post.

Buffalo State took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute on a goal by Barb Kiliszek.

Amanda Sisti (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) (Horseheads, NY) answered for RIT on 22nd minute. She drove in and beat her defender, dribbling a shot underneath a sprawling Katie Melsert and trickled over the goal line, tying the score at 1-1.

Kendra Shelters (Lyons, NY/Lyons) (Lyons, NY) had a great chance in the 34th minute on a great through-ball by Sisti. Shelters shot was saved by Melsert and the rebound came back to Shelters but Melsert was able to tip the ball wide of the goal mouth.

RIT controlled the play in the second half but were unable to get the go-ahead goal, until Shelters took a feed from Traversi and beat the Bengals Melsert with a shot into the right corner, making it 2-1 RIT.

Alyssa Barnes (East Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) (E. Hempstead, NY/Pinkerton Academy) scored her first career goal in the 83rd minute on a diving header. Traversi served a high ball into the penalty area that Barnes ran onto and headed past a diving Melsert, making it 3-1 RIT.

Traversi capped off the scoring in the 90th minute on an assist from Main, giving RIT a 4-1 win.

Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH) allowed one goal, picking up her second win of the season. RIT's defense did not allow a shot in the second half.

The Tigers will face Clarkson University this coming Saturday (9/8) in Potsdam, New York.
