PITTSFORD, NY - The RIT volleyball team (16-6, 3-1 Empire 8) got back on the winning track at the Nazareth Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers defeated Scranton 30-32, 30-24, 30-26, 30-23 in the opening match and upended SUNY Cortland 30-21, 30-27, 30-26. Junior outside hitter
Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) (Wellington, OH/Keystone) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Schaffer led RIT with 25 kills in the win over Scranton.
Nichole Boxler (Varysburg, NY/Attica) (Varysburg, NY/Attica) had 52 assists.
Kristan Hernandez (Somerset, TX/Somerset) (Somerset, TX/Somerset) led the way with 17 digs.
Kate Gleason (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) (Frontier, NY/Hamburg) picked up seven service aces, while
Victoria Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) picked up six blocks
In the win over SUNY Cortland, Boxler recorded 39 assists, while Schaffer had 23 kills. Petko recorded five blocks, while Hernandez had 17 digs for the second straight time.
Schaffer was also the RIT Tournament MVP and earned All-Tournament honors at the Colorado and Ithaca College Invitationals.
The Tigers are back in action next weekend at the NYU Invitational.
