ALFRED, NY -- The RIT (5-2-0, 1-0-0 E8) men's soccer team shut out Alfred University, 3-0 in Empire 8 action on Friday evening. Head Coach Bill Garno won his 100th career game as coach of the Tigers.
After a scoreless first half, Chuck Marion (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) (Syracuse, NY) gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute on an assist Daniel Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatious) (Strongville, OH).
Allen Nicholson (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA) made it 2-0 in the 78th minute on an unassisted goal.
Mark Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) completed the scoring in the 90th minute to give RIT a 3-0 lead.
RIT's defense was stout, allowing 11 total shots with only three making it on goal. Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) (Lancaster, PA) picked up the win, making three saves.
Garno sits in second place all-time in wins at RIT with a 100-82-19 record. He sits behind Doug May and is one of only two coaches in RIT history to win 100 or more games.
RIT will host Buffalo State University on Tuesday, September 25 at 4 pm on RIT Field.
