ROCHESTER, NY -- Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough)'s (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) goal in the 54th minute proved to be the game-winner as RIT (3-3-1) defeated the University of Rochester, (3-3-0) 2-1 on a sunny afternoon at RIT Field. It is the first win for RIT over the Yellowjackets, who were ranked 25th in Division III, in the program's history.

On the winning goal Anna Kolnik (Sharon, WI/Big Foot) (Sharon, WI) started the play with a good ball to Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY). Main played a nice diagonal ball to Traversi who fired a low shot into the right corner, breaking a 1-1 tie.

RIT's defense bended but did not break. Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH) made a huge save with about 30 minutes to play on a shot from Kelsey Turley, keeping the Tigers lead in tact.

With nine minutes remaining the Yellowjackets had the ball on the end-line and looked to score but Rochester was whistled for off-sides.

The Tigers were able to kill the clock from then on in.

RIT struck first on Anna Kolnik (Sharon, WI/Big Foot)'s (Sharon, WI) first goal of the season. Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) had four cracks at goal, but her attempts were blocked away.

However, the final rebound came to kolnik who trapped the ball and rifled a right-footed shot just inside the right post for a 1-0 RIT lead.

Rochester tied the score in the 30th minute on a goal by Erin Carballo. She capitalized on a miscommunication by RIT's defense. Ali Streeter had the assist on the play.

RIT returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Alfred University at 2 pm on RIT Field.
